We have some truly wonderful news to share with our community, and it involves a new (and very furry) recruit who has stolen all of our hearts: “Plugger,” or “PD” for short!
A couple of weeks ago, we found this poor little hound dog abandoned in a remote parking lot in the southern unit of the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge. He was severely malnourished, neglected, scared, and unable to move. It’s a sad situation that unfortunately, happens far more often than any of us would like to imagine.

A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way
Our Environmental Lead for the Deep Fork Project, Micaela, immediately took action safely getting him to the nearest vet for a checkup and much-needed medication.
The very next day, after a good meal and a safe, restful night, we had him back out to the field. Plugger got to hang out with the Well Done Foundation crew and Curtis Shuck as they prepared the site for another orphan well plugging project in the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. And guess what, he did great!
From Orphan to Crew Chief
After a full week of much-needed rehab, nutritious food, and a whole lot of hugs, our boy Plugger is officially back on the job! It’s truly amazing what a difference compassion, kindness, and love can make.
We have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more of Plugger with our #WellDoneFoundation crews in Oklahoma as we continue to make a difference #onewellatatime. Welcome to the team, PD!
