One rule targets methane emissions from oil and gas facilities, a significant contributor to climate change, and the other tightens mercury emissions from power plants. Several states and industry groups opposed the rules, arguing they were overly strict. However, the court declined to block them for now, and the regulations are part of broader efforts to address climate change.
